Goodmorning, friends! And Happy Thursday! Only a few days left in the work week, and I imagine you may need some motivation to push you through the last few days. So grab a cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and prepare yourself to be whisked away to the most beautiful tropical paradise you will ever see (vicariously, of course) – Ladera Resort.
When we (my sister and I) arrived at Ladera Resort, we were treated magnificently. Our luggage was whisked away, we were given a cool towel that was minty fresh to freshen up with, and then we were provided with a signature Ladera Punch (an incredible concoction!). We were given the lay of the land and then found a seat at the Bar at Dasheene Resturant, to sip on our punch, take in the view, and start to relax.
After enjoying a drink (or two) we were taken to our room, where we were shown all of the incredible amenities we had at our fingertips. Now, I really shouldn’t call it a room – it was more like an incredible, mountainside villa with only 3 walls, and a private pool!
Our room was breathtaking. My jaw literally dropped to the floor when I walked around! We had a gorgeous four poster bed (with mosquito nets to protect from the bugs!) a lovely sitting area, an amazing shower space, robes (necessary!), heated pool, swing (which I loved sitting on and reading), and of course, a STUNNING view of the Piton!
The first day we were at the resort, we spent time at our pool, lounging, reading, and just taking in the beauty of the place! And of course, sipping (popping) champagne! It was hard to believe that such a gorgeous establishment could be in such a pristine location – truly a wonderful and peaceful oasis!
Our first evening, we went to the Managers Cocktail party, where we were able to meet the general manager, as well as the lovely gentleman who did ALL of the carvings in our room – yes, the rooms had hand carved pillars, countertops and more! We tried Ladera’s rum punch, pickled mango, and plantain chips! Such a yummy start to what would be a divine tasting evening!
We dined at Dasheene restaurant, where the food swept us off our feet! I had a wonderful beet & pumpkin salad to start, followed by the grilled vegetable entree (drool worthy!). For dessert – let’s just say I can never say no to anything with passionfruit in it! Such a beautiful, tasty end to an amazing day!
On our second day at Ladera, we woke up bright and early! We had breakfast at Dasheene – I had the Exotic Fruit Bowl and the French Toast. I am 100% a breakfast person and trust me… the breakfast at Ladera NEVER disappointed. It was so good I got the french toast two days in a row! I couldn’t help myself! The coffee was also amazing, and I love how the juice was unsweetened, so we were able to sweeten it to taste, so nice! And guess what you guys! I had passion fruit juice at breakfast! So I was a very happy girl! And just as an aside – if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I love posting food photos and I like using ceramic plates in my photos… every plate I ate off at Ladera I seriously wanted to package up and take home! I loved the rustic style of them! Seriously Ladera – do tell where you get them from!?!
After breakfast, we decided to hop onto the 10 AM shuttle down to Sugar beach (free service to all guests) to relax in the sand for a while. The drive down to the beach was fun and informative – our driver told us about his favorite fruit, the sugar apple! And he was kind enough to give us some to try! We set up shop on the beach, and relaxed, read and swam in the ocean. It was cloudy outside, but still hot! And I still managed to get a sunburn!
Around mid-afternoon, we packed up and headed back to Ladera Resort! We freshened up and walked around the resort, snapping pictures along the way!
That evening, we dined at Dasheene, and I had the calamari, followed by the Surf & Turf! Okay you guys, this dish was DIVINE! As an Albertan, I take steak very seriously, and I was SO impressed with the quality and cut as well as the preparation of the steak I was served! The surf consisted of mouth-wateringly good shrimp! So yummy! For dessert, I had mango cheesecake. Yes, Mango Cheesecake – incredible! And, we got to meet the Executive Chef who was so kind! He truly is amazing at what he does!
On our last morning at Ladera, we had the same breakfast as the day before 🙂 We couldn’t help ourselves! It was just so darn good! And then we lounged at their gorgeous pool while we waited for our taxi.
Ladera Resort was the most incredible resort I have ever stayed at, and one I would highly, highly recommend to anyone looking to come to St. Lucia, or to head to some place peaceful, romantic, luxurious and fun! Ladera offers tons of tours and they are very accommodating at helping you plan anything you want!
Thank you Ladera for the most incredible time!
With Love, Meg
