Happy Friday Friends! I usually find that when Friday afternoon rolls around and I’m waiting for the clock to hit 4 PM, I am dreaming off far off places and corners of the world I’ve never been to! Does anyone else feel the same way?!
Summer is always a great time to travel, especially for students, because well – summer holidays! The problem with summer travel is that it’s “busy/tourist” season just about anywhere which means… prices skyrocket, and crowds are massive. So… here are my tips for summer travel for students or anyone on a budget, really:
1.Travel to somewhere where it is off season. I’ve been doing this for the past few summers – such as Brazil! And this summer I’ll be heading to St. Lucia! I choose to do this because prices for accommodation and attractions are EXTREMELY LOW, crowds are practically non-existent and so the experience is about 100x more enjoyable. Plus, those extra savings could be used to extend the vacation a little bit, or upgrade your accommodations!
2. Consider using AIRBNB! Airbnb is a great alternative to regular hotels. You can choose from a private room all the way to a private house, and they have a very wide price range! Off-season places will be even cheaper! And the extra benefit? If it has a kitchen, you can save money by buying your own groceries and cooking your meals! I love doing this because I feel like it helps me to immerse myself in the culture a little more!
3.Travel with a buddy! Traveling with a friend also can help cut the costs! Instead of paying for the same room, taxi, ect., you get to split the price! Just make sure you are traveling with someone you trust and will not fight with the entire time!
4.Enter a travel contest and cross your fingers that you’ll win! These days, every travel company seems to always have a giveaway on the go – so really… what do you have to lose! Maybe you’ll win a new suitcase or backpack, but maybe you’ll win a flight or a whole trip! Maybe even some cash towards your travels – Like the contest I found on Insurance Hunter!
Talking about all this travel has me seriously dreaming of wanderlust! I hope you enjoyed reading over my top 4 tips to summer travel! Do you have any extra tips that I should know about?! Comment or email me!
