I was recently asked to post about a 24 hour guide to my city during the fall! I thought- what a fantastic idea. I mean, it would mostly revolve around food and coffee because that is pretty much all that I do – but still, fall is an amazing time in #yeg and I want to share my favorite way to spend 24 hours in the city! And hey- maybe this will be a reoccurring thing? Stay tuned for Winter, Spring and Summer 🙂
When I think about Fall here in Alberta I think about the changing leaves, pumpkins, corn mazes, cozy afternoons, river valley walks – the works! So, the best way to start off your day is at my favourite cafe – Little Brick !
Start your morning right with one of their lovely breakfast foods and a cozy chai tea or london fog – it will not dissapoint. If the weather is pleasant, find somewhere to sit in their backyard, or get cozy on one of their couches!
After finishing off the last sip of your drink, hop in the car and get ready for a country drive out to Prairie Gardens & Adventure Farm. If your headed there on the weekend, make sure to park in the field and take the bus over. Prepare yourself for an amazing fall set up – pumpkins galore, a spooky little town, petting zoo, fall flavored food, even a pumpkin canon. I love heading over here to get a pumpkin. They have every single type you could possibly imagine. Orange, green, white, bumpy, ugly, crazy, etc., etc., etc., 🙂
After spending some time enjoying the country side and the fall feel at the gardens, it will be time to head back to Edmonton! If your like me, you will probably be hungry. I recommend heading to Whyte ave and stopping by at Cafe Mosaics for some of their UNREAL falafel and maybe a warm latte to keep you cozy! After chowing down, wander the ave and pop into the stores that catch your eye! They have everything from unique to mainstream. Some of my favorites – Chapters, Noul, and Bamboo Ballroom.
After shopping til you drop. Take an easy stroll down to the University of Alberta (stunning during the fall!) and then take one of the many stair cases down to the River Valley Trails! I love biking or walking along the trails and enjoying the beautiful views of our city!
Once it starts to turn into evening, this is the perfect time to head out to the Edmonton Corn Maze! Have fun getting a little lost, and try to find your way out before it gets too dark! Make sure to try out the potato canon too! So fun.
After a fun filled day I love to kick back and have a drink! My newly discovered favorite place to do this is BRU coffee+beer house. Yes- they have coffee AND beer. I love Cider, so I get one of those! The atmosphere here is so chill and it is a fun way to waste away the evening hours chatting it up.
I hope you have enjoyed my Fall Guide to Edmonton. I would have included apple picking (classic!) but the orchard had to close early due to lack of rain! What else do you love doing in the city during Fall!? Comment below! And thank you to Eventbrite for inviting me to share my ideas! Eventbrite is an amazing place to find event management tools to help you plan your own parties and events! Head over there to see all of what they have to offer!
